Conductive Keratoplasty
- Eye Associates patients have a new option for near vision correction. It is a procedure called Conductive Keratoplasty, or CK, and it has recently been approved by the FDA.
Multifocal Lens Implants
- A multifocal lens implant is a type of Intraocular lenses (also called IOLs). IOLs are implantable lenses that replace the lens of the eye when it is removed during cataract surgery.
Eye Diseases
- Eye care is not only about visual acuity (how sharp your vision is). Reading the letters from the eye chart can identify only 20-30% of vision problems. Eye care is about how HEALTHY your eyes are and even how healthy YOU are.
Glaucoma
- More than 2.2 million Americans age forty and older have glaucoma, but as many as one half may be unaware they have this potentially blinding disease, because they have no symptoms.
Cataract
- A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens. The vast majority of cataracts are related to age. Most people do not even realize they have a cataract, as cataracts grow very slowly and may not impede vision early on.
Age Related Macular Degeneration
- Macular degeneration makes close work like threading a needle or reading a book, difficult or impossible. When the macula doesn't function correctly, we experience blurriness or darkness in the center of our vision.
Diabetic Retinopathy
- Diabetes can cause several different complications in vision, cataracts and glaucoma have both been linked to diabetes.
Dry Eye
- A condition known as dry eye syndrome occurs when tear film abnormalities prevent the eyes from being comfortable.
Refractive Errors
- Refractive errors are disorders, not diseases. A refractive error means that the shape of your eye does not bend light correctly, resulting in a blurred image.
Myopia
- Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is inherited and is often discovered in childhood.
Hyperopia
- Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness, is usually inherited. Children are often hyperopic which may lessen as an adult.
Astigmatism
- Astigmatism is not a disease nor does it mean that you have "bad eyes." It simply means that you have a variation or disturbance in the shape of your cornea.
Presbyopia
- Presbyopia (aging of the lens in the eye and the muscles that control the shape of the lens) commonly occurs after age 40, when the lens of the eye becomes more rigid and does not flex as easily.
